Light emitting diode (LED) technology is more energy efficient, and consumes 90% less power than an incandescent traffic signal and has a life expectancy that is five times longer than incandescent signals. Sacramento County has almost completed the
Street Signal Conversion to replace all 600 incandescent traffic signals. The savings is approximated at $480,000 each year in energy costs.
