Provide Employee Green Building Training

Measure

The County will provide training for County employees on green building codes.

​Status of Implementation

The County has recently hired a new Chief Building Official who maintains several accreditations related to this measure, including:

  • Certified CALGreen Inspector

  • Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner

  • Lifecycle Assessment credential from MIT

  • LEED Accredited Professional

In addition, the Chief Building Official has served in numerous positions of leadership in support of code development and training including:

  • California Building Standards Commission

    • Chair, Code Advisory Committee, Green Building

    • Chair, Code Advisory Committee, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, and Energy (PEME)

  • International Code Council (ICC)

    • Consensus Committee for Commissioning Standards

    • Mechanical Exam Development Committee

    • Contract Instructor (CALGreen, IRC)

  • California Building Officials (CALBO)

    • Chair, Energy Commission Advisory Committee

  • Cosumnes River College, Adjunct Professor. Developed curriculum and taught a number of Building Inspection Technology courses including:

    • California Energy Code: Building Energy Efficiency Standards

    • California Green Building Standards Code

    • Introduction to Residential Building Performance

The Chief Building Official has begun providing energy code training to the County's residential inspectors and plans examiners and is currently assessing the training needs across the entire office, with a focus towards ensuring compliance with the increasingly complex green building codes.
