Status of Implementation
The Department of Transportation requires new signal equipment to be high-heat rated per industry standards. Existing signal parts are being replaced with high-heat rated equipment through regular maintenance programs. The Department of General Services is assessing all critical infrastructure/equipment for vulnerabilities during extreme heat events. Vulnerable equipment is continually replaced utilizing our Critical Equipment Replacement Program (CERP) within the Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Priorities are based on severity of vulnerability and level of criticality. During this assessment, preventive maintenance schedules are also reviewed and revised to align with more strenuous extreme heat operations. The County is prepared for contingencies in the event of unforeseen equipment failure by ensuring portable equipment is available when needed and tie-in locations are readily accessible, where possible.
