Action TEMP-05-a: Increase funding and staff resources for the Sacramento Area Sustainable Business Program through the County’s Business Environmental Resource Center, with the goal of increasing overall participation and certification in the program and implementing annual monitoring of businesses that adopt practices to reduce energy consumption and promote energy efficiency, along with other sustainability measures. Status: Complete. ​

​​Status of Im​​​ple​​ment​​​ation

The Business Environmental Resource Center has been actively making changes and improvements to the Sustainable Business Program since October of 2023. To date, in Fiscal Year 24/25, the Program has added 75 new Sustainable Businesses to the membership platform. The Business Environmental Resource Center is actively engaging the membership base by connecting the participating businesses to environmental incentives, opportunities, and environmental legislative updates. The Business Environmental Resource Center is planning the Sustainable Business Awards for September of 2025.  The awards will showcase eight businesses in Sacramento County for their exemplary efforts in environmental sustainability.
