Green Sacramento County

Methane, a Green House Gas, is generated with organic waste and is not beneficial to the environment. Sacramento County diverts an estimated 65,000 tons of green waste each year with its Curbside Green Waste Collection Program. This material is used for daily landfill cover and some is burned by a private contractor to generate electricity.​
