Status of Implementation
The Sacramento County Water Agency (SCWA) was not a direct financial contributor but did support a contingency of regional water purveyors and the Regional Water Authority's (RWA) efforts to develop the American River Basin Study: American River Basin Study Media Kit | Basin Studies (usbr.gov). The basin study developed data, tools, analyses, and climate change adaptation strategies for the American River Basin. Strategies were examined to integrate and better coordinate local and federal water management practices to improve regional water supply reliability while enhancing Reclamation's flexibility in operating Folsom Reservoir to meet flow and water quality standards in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and protect endangered fishery species in the Lower American River. Climate change modeling included sea-level rise.
SCWA works with regional partners on the Water Forum agreement. One of the key concepts around the now three-year effort to update the Water Forum Agreement is CalSIM modeling (and the Ad Hoc Technical Report). The modeling and report describe the effects of climate change and associated sea-level rise. As the update continues, regional solutions are being negotiated.
